Prayer and Scripture

 

For followers of Jesus Christ prayer is the best way to communicate with God. Prayer is the vehicle for daily dialog with the One who created us. The importance of daily communication through prayer cannot be overestimated. It is so important that it is mentioned over 250 times in Scripture.

 

Week 1--Theme:  Why pray? 

            Day 1, Monday, Feb. 22nd:  It’s a privilege / Hebrews 4:15, 16

            Day 2, Tuesday, Feb. 23rd:  It’s an act of obedience / I Thessalonians 5:17

            Day 3, Wednesday, Feb. 24th:  It draws us closer to God and His will for us / James 1:5

            Day 4, Thursday, Feb. 25th:  It’s how we communicate our needs / James 4:2-3

            Day 5. Friday, Feb. 26th:  It’s the example Jesus set / John 18:1

            Day 6, Saturday, Feb 27th:  It works / I John 5:15

Week 2--Theme:  How do I pray?

            Place, time, etc.

            Day 7, Sunday, Feb 28th: Know to whom you are speaking. Using the Lord’s prayer/Matthew              6:9-16

            Day 8, Monday, March 1st:  Thank Him / Psalms 86:12

            Day 9, Tuesday, March 2nd:  Ask for God’s will / Jeremiah 29:11

            Day 10, Wednesday, March 3rd:  Say what you need / James 4: 2,3

            Day 11, Thursday, March 4th:  Ask for forgiveness / I John 1:9

            Day 12, Friday, March 5th:  Other models--ACTS (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving,                    Supplication) Adoration / Psalms 66: 1-4/ Confession/John 1: 8-10

            Day 13, Saturday, March 6th:  Thanksgiving / Psalms 95: 1-5 / Supplication /

Week 3--Theme:  Types of Prayers

            Day 14, Sunday, March 7th:  Breath Prayer / Luke 18: 39 and Luke 1:46

            Day 15, Monday, March 8th:  Intercessory Prayer / Ephesians 6:18

            Day 16, Tuesday, March 9th: Prayer of Lament / Psalms 88: 14, 15, 18

            Day 17, Wednesday, March 10th:  Pray with Prayer Partners / Acts 12: 12

            Day 18, Thursday, March 11th:  Pray with family / Deuteronomy 6: 4-7

            Day 19, Friday, March 12th:  Prayer with Fasting / Matthew 6: 16-18

            Day 20, Saturday, March 13th:  Prayer with Fasting / Nehemiah 1: 4-6

Week 4--Theme: Praying Scripture

            Day 21, Sunday, March 14th:  Pray for forgiveness / Psalms 32:5

            Day 22, Monday, March 15th:  Pray for Wisdom / I Kings 3: 7-9

            Day 23, Tuesday, March 16th:  Pray for Deepest Desires / I Samuel 2: 1-8

            Day 24, Wednesday, March 17th: Pray for the church / Ephesians 1: 16-19

            Day 25, Thursday, March 18th: Pray for Acceptance of God’s Will / Luke 1: 46-55

            Day 26, Friday, March 19th: Pray for Repentance / Psalms 51: 7, 10-12

            Day 27, Saturday, March 20th: Pray for God’s Guidance / Psalms 25

 

Week 5--Theme:  Intercessory Prayers

            Day 28, Sunday, March 21st:  Pray for missions (local and abroad) / Ephesians 6:8

            Day 29, Monday, March 22nd:  Pray for government / I Timothy 2:2

            Day 30, Tuesday, March 23rd:  Pray for medical workers / James 5:14

            Day 31, Wednesday, March 24th:  Pray for unity of the church and leaders /John 13:35

            Day 32, Thursday, March 25th:  Pray for our youth and children / Deuteronomy 6:4-7

            Day 33, Friday, March 26th:  Pray for God’s Holy Spirit to be with us / Romans 8:26,27

            Day 34, Saturday, March 27th:  Pray for increasing faith / Hebrews 11:6

 

Week 6--Theme:  Remembering the Death, Burial and Resurrection

            Day 35, Sunday, March 28th:  Passover, Lord’s Supper / Matthew 26: 26-28

            Day 36, Monday, March 29th:  In the Garden /Matthew 26:39

            Day 37, Tuesday, March 30th:  Trials / Matthew 27:  24, 25

            Day 38, Wednesday, March 31st:  Crucifixion / Luke 23: 44-46

            Day 39, Thursday, April 1st:  Burial / Luke 23: 52, 53
